#505-500: Surge Tank Hose / Fitting Assembly

Designed for use with our automated test system when testing small size cylinders.
The automated test system electronics pressure sensors will overshoot the minimum test pressure of small size cylinders (ie; 5Lb CO2, M6 O2, Paintball cylinders). Despite not having any maximum pressure requirement regulations when testing DOT or TC rated cylinders, some inspectors have concluded (without any evidence) that pressure testing the cylinder “to much” over the minimum designed test pressure will harm the cylinder.
Hydro-Test has asked the DOT for a written interpretation on what is meant by “to much”. Despite many request ( going back to 2004), we are still awaiting an answer.
To satisfy these unsubstantiated conclusion by some inspectors, we now offer a surge tank adapter setup. This assembly easily attaches to your existing calibrated cylinder, or other cylinder with a pressure rating equal to or greater than the cylinder you are testing. Quick disconnect fittings are supplied to easily remove the surge tank when not needed.
